Collin and I have been feeling the pressure to finish up The House of Grey for some time now. And while that is well underway, I looked back and realized that we let this pressure get the best of us. The forum has been neglected and lately the blog only has updates on the next episode and the episodes themselves. Don’t get me wrong, I get that The House of Grey is a great story and we’re working on it as fast as we can, but at the same time it is just the beginning of something much larger that we want to share with everyone. So in light of this reinvigoration, here’s what’s going on outside The House of Grey that y’all can look forward to:
Collin, myself, and Nick Taylor- the author of the Legon series, formed the digital media company, DarkFire Productions (cool name, huh?). Since the three of us spent hours and hours figuring this whole podcast/eBook/Publish-On-Demand/Social Media/e-everything stuff out, we wanted to help other authors so they wouldn’t have to jump through all those hoops…or at the very least have someone to hold their hand through ’em. We’ve been doing a lot of work with some great people and are poised to really get things shakin’. So look for some announcements of new authors and seriously cool reads in the near future.
Speaking of Nick Taylor, he is launching an online magazine about writing, the publishing industry, and pretty much anything related. Look for articles and op-ed pieces by your favorite author and sidekick (…that would be Collin and I) coming soon.
Collin is full of great story ideas (like tons of them). I have a bright moment here or there, but put us together and some seriously mind-blowing stuff starts to bubble. Learning from everyone’s comments and emails, we wanted to bring you content on a more consistent basis. Trouble is, writing an entire novel, editing it, rewriting it, editing it again, scripting it, recording it, and then podcasting it just takes time…a lot of time. And since none of you have shared the secret of time travel with us, that doesn’t lend well to consistent content. Therefore, we believe that we’ve come up with a way to both write the novels that you will love and give you content on a consistent basis. Now I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but let me say just one word…ninjas. Didn’t see that one coming, did ya!
Our short story anthology is coming along pretty well too. We have 1 complete story, 1 poetry entry, 1 story that will be debuting the first couple of chapters, and 1 story that will leave you hanging. Come on did you expect anything less than a cliff hanger? All that comes out right after HoG wraps.
Tournament of Blades is still on the horizon. It will be a different story than The House of Grey, but it will be 100% Collin Earl. Along with that, we plan to rewrite The House of Grey. Why, you might ask? Well, the reality of it is that no one is going to publish a 300,000 word novel. So while the story will be the one that you have come to love, it may be broken into smaller parts. Then all you original fans can claim you’ve read all three books in The House of Grey series, and we promise not to tell anyone that you actually just listened to the original 300,000 word podcast…it’ll be our little secret. Other book ideas include a comedy about death, something of a cross between Flash Forward, The Matrix, Total Recall, 12 Monkeys, Minority Report, and Terminator, another comedy about Princesses (no seriously, it’s a funny idea), and a Sci-Fi thriller about a guy, his dead wife, alien demons, and some other cool stuff…maybe lasers or something…ya definitely lasers.
So that’s the big update. I promise that we’ll be better about letting everyone know about what’s going on and not rely on these big catch up posts.
Oh and by the way, Collin posted on facebook that he hopes to have the next chapter out by next week. Again, if your not a fan of our page there, or are not following him on twitter, do so and encourage him.
